MEA (Malt Extract Agar) Plates

Safety Profile: Prepared using premium, professional-grade laboratory media. While our uninoculated plates are sterile and non-hazardous, any agar medium capable of sustaining fungal growth can potentially cultivate wild environmental molds or bacteria if exposed to the air. To mitigate biological risks, these plates should only be opened and manipulated within a controlled, sterile workspace (such as a laminar flow hood or still air box) using proper personal protective equipment.

Disposal: Never fully reopen a plate that shows signs of unfamiliar, wild, or rogue contamination (like green, black, or gray molds). To safely dispose of cultures, ensure the dishes are wrapped tightly with tape or parafilm. Place the sealed dishes inside the heavy-duty, puncture-resistant 6-Mil disposal bag included with your supplies, seal the bag securely, and discard it in accordance with local household waste regulations.
